Swatch samples must be approved for large projects. There are two original Tan Brown granite quarries howeverthere are also several look-a-like quarries all with their own unique colour and veining variations.

Tan Brown Granite
Synonyms: None known however please note that this is NOT the same material as English Brown.
Description: Tan Brown Granite has black-brown cordieritefels with big, shapeless, brown-red feldspar crystals. This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite however in the area of application of the European Standard this stone must be nominated as cordieritefel.
Cordieritefels: A phaneritic, intrusive igneous rock characterized by a predominance of plagioclase feldspar (90-100%), and a minimal mafic component (0-10%). Pyroxene, ilmenite, magnetite, and olivine are the mafic minerals most commonly present.
Granite: Granite is a common and widely occurring type of intrusive, felsic, igneous rock. Granites are usually medium to coarse grained, occasionally with some individual crystals larger than the groundmass forming a rock known as porphyry. Granites can be pink to dark grey or even black, depending on their chemistry and mineralogy.

Tan Brown Granite has a black, dark blue and brown background with chocolate brown flowers and lighter coloured crytals, the colour and veining is usually consistent however for large projects ensure that the blocks are all extracted from the same quarry area for matching purposes.
Even First Choice material will have lines and veins. It is quite common to use a resin filler in Tan Brown Granite to give a more smooth feel to the surface. Tan Brown granite may absorb liquid therefore a good quality sealer should be tested before using as a work surface. |
| General Usage |
It is mainly used for flooring, cladding, kitchen counters and table tops. Tan Brown Granite looks good with a gloss polish however it is also available flamed, river-washed and honed. Available in both slabs and tiles. |
