Description: Multicolour Red Granite is a red-grey-brown migmatite of the Precambrian period. This stone internationally may be nominated as a granite. For the US and Chinese market this is correct according to however in the area of application of the European Standard this stone must be nominated as migmatite.
Migmatite: A rock at the frontier between igneous and metamorphic rocks. They can also be known as diatexite. In many cases the darker part of the rock, consisting of biotite mica and hornblende, has been intruded by veins of lighter rock consisting of quartz and feldspar. A rock composed of a metamorphic (altered) host material that is streaked or veined with granite rock; the name means "mixed rock". Such rocks are usually gneissic (banded) and felsic rather than mafic in composition.

Multicolour Red Granite has a red-grey-brown background. There are many different quarries of Multicolour Red granite and the colour can vary considerably. For large projects ensure that the blocks are all extracted from the same quarry face for matching purposes.
Even First Choice material will have lines and veins. It is very common to use a resin filler in Multicolour Red Granite to give a more smooth feel to the surface. Multicolour Red granite will absorb liquid therefore a good quality sealer should be applied when used as a work surface. |

It is mainly used for flooring, cladding, kitchen counters and table tops. Multicolour Red Granite looks good with a gloss polish however it is also available flamed, river-washed and honed. Available in both slabs and tiles. |
